Among the many eco-friendly interior features is its new door pulls made from AMSilk's Biosteel® fiber. This high-strength, certified vegan silk-like fabric is made through the proprietary biotechnology expertise of AMSilk, the world's first industrial supplier of vegan silk biopolymers, and theThe biopolymer is 100% biodegradable, recyclable, renewable and zero-wasteThe

This application is the first of its kind in the automotive industry.AMSilk's Biosteel® provides a solution for the automotive industry to meet the industry's growing need to replace petroleum-based components with natural bio-based materials.

On March 11, 2013, AMSilk, a German company, launched a biosteel spider silk-like fiber made entirely of recombinant silk proteins. The kinetic energy test before the fiber breaks shows that the toughness of the Bio-Steel Spider Silk-like fiber is similar to that of the natural spider silk fiber. The raw silk of the spider silk fiber is very smooth to the touch, with a pleasant feel and a silky sheen. The fiber has a bright white appearance and can be dyed using techniques commonly used in the textile industry. BioSteel spider-like fibers can be used to produce high-performance technical textiles, sporting goods, medical textiles, and other support textiles and surgical materials for wound coverage.

2. Deserttex®, cactus-based leather

The VISION EQXX also utilizes anotherDeserttex®, the animal-free leather alternative. As a sustainable cactus-based biomaterial, Deserttex®Made from crushed cactus fiber with a sustainable bio-based polyurethane matrixThe

Leather substitutes made with this combination of formulations are extremely soft to the touch. Mercedes also plans to increase the cactus content in subsequent versions, and the material is expected to halve its ecological footprint compared to conventional artificial leather.

Entrepreneurs Adrian Lopez Velarde and Marte Cazarez from Mexico discovered the secret of the cactus - its potential as a synthetic leather. The two founded the brand "Desserto", which now specializes in cactus leather and related leather goods.Deserttex® is often known for its softness to the touch, not only does it feel great, but the material breaks up very well, the material is correct and also has the roundness and elasticity that you can usually only find in leathers where collagen works in this way.

Their leather goods, raw material 100% made from cactus. Due to its high durability, it can be used in a wide range of products, including shoes, wallets, bags, car seats, and even as clothing designs. Below areProduction process::

First, cut the mature leaves of the cactus, clean them and mash them to dry in the sun for three days.

Then, non-toxic chemicals are added to it, as well as biological pigments.

In the end, it becomes leather with different textures and, moreover, a variety of colors to choose from.

In this way, a variety of products can be made from it. For example, leather shoes and bags. And office chairs or car seats. Even a leather jacket is no problem. In short, it can do everything that traditional animal skins can do.

Of course, that's not the point, its biggest benefit is that it's environmentally friendly, biodegradable and doesn't burden the earth.

What's more, the leather is made from cactus grown in the Mexican state of Zacatecas, and the mature leaves are pruned every 6-8 months, so there's absolutely no need to worry about not using the raw material.

3: Mylo™ leather-like material

The car's interior features materials including a leather alternative called Mylo.Mylo is produced using myceliumDaimler describes it as "the underground rhizome of a mushroom".

What is Mylo™?

Mylo™ is a material made from mycelium, the underground root structure of mushrooms, and by controlling the growth conditions of the mycelium, Bolt Threads produces a substrate that can be cured and tanned to a soft finish.

Pure mycelial materials often look like leather, paper or plastic and have different visual, mechanical and functional properties. These materials are mainly obtained in static or machine-shaken containers, where mycelial mats are formed and dried on the liquid surface when mycelial liquid cultures are grown.

Typically, mycelium-based materials are composites, produced in four steps.

i) Substrate selection and preparation.. The substrate should provide the necessary nutrients and any specific needs for the growing mycelium (i.e. any cellulose-rich material). IMPORTANT: The substrate has a significant impact on the function and performance of the final material!
ii) Inoculate the substrate with mycelium.Optimal conditions of light, temperature, gas concentration, pH and moisture should be controlled during the colonization process and mycelial growth, as they can significantly change the nature and quality of the resulting mycelial complex.
iii) After 2 or 3 weeks, mycelial growth stops due to heatThe
iv) if desired, treat the mycelium composite with surface treatment and other treatmentsThe

Unlike making leather, the process of making Mylo™ does not involve raising and sacrificing livestock, or any associated greenhouse gases or material waste. And in contrast to animal skins, which take years to grow, Mylo™ can be grown in a matter of weeks.

Mylo™ is also a better choice than synthetic leather, which is mostly made of polyurethane or PVC. These so-called "folds" are made with large amounts of toxic chemicals. Although not proven to be dangerous to humans during use, these toxic chemicals persist in landfills and groundwater.

Welcome to join Aibang Automotive CMF WeChat Exchange Group!

In recent years, we have seen the rise of many new electric car forces, in addition to the electric megatrend as a factor, the improvement of the overall design of the car is also a very important factor. Along with the development of automobile automobile intelligence, the quality requirements of end consumers for the interior and exterior of automobiles are also improving. Usually the interior and exterior of the car and the whole car modeling are one of the important factors to stimulate the customer's desire to buy, which is an important factor for the customer's intuitive visual experience and emotional touch when buying a car.

Therefore, the three aspects of the car's color design, the materials used, and the surface technology, which is what we usually call the CMF design of the car, have an important impact on the customer experience.

Along with the overall improvement of automobile quality in these years, the surface process technology in automobile CMF is more and more abundant. In order to make CMF related resources faster docking, so that the whole industrial chain of related experts have a better communication platform. Aibang has set up a CMF WeChat exchange group with designers and engineers from OEMs, engineers at all levels of tier, component processing suppliers, CMF design companies, raw material suppliers, equipment suppliers and so on, so please join the exchange;
